Well, it was only predictable that the gig would be historical. We’d been waiting for over 20 years for Social D. Both long time fans and new new school kids showed up for the concert. It was worth all the waiting. When Mike took the stage, much like a toreador the crowd went wild. He communicated constantly, despite the language barrier and made himself clearly understood. He had the audience from the moment he made a joke about Rio de Janeiro (we have and onld rivalry with them…) to the last second, saying he would be back next year. We are already waiting! Fist number was the instrumenatl Road Zombie, followed by Stones Under my Thumb. Then killer versions of Bye Bye Baby and Bad Luck. Amazing. The crowd was singing along even the instrumental parts! Don’t Drag Me Down was one gigantic singalong. Then we had the older Just Wanna Give You The Creeps, Another State of Mind and Mommy’s Little Monster. For me it was just like the first time at a circus or amusement park (have I made myself clear?) I was so happy I couldn’t do anything but stare wildeyed the whole time. Mike called two guys and a kid to the stage, talking to them and making jokes. He had a great stage presence. Midway through the show he announced a new song, which is great, Still Alive. Then we had two encores. In the first one my favs, Sometimes I Do. And then the last encore, with an incredible rendition of Prison Bound, really slow at the beginning and then Ness’ version of Ring of Fire ended the evening. As I said, worth waiting. Next time, please play more dates here in São Paulo!
