FAN REVIEW: OCTOBER 12 AT THE VIC THEATRE IN CHICAGO, IL

Mon 10/15/12

Sam_0001small_home_page

Social Distortion has been a favorite of mine since I was a kid, thanks to my older brother. On October 12th 2012, they played at The Vic Theater in Chicago. This is hands down one of the best shows I have ever attended. Mike Ness and band put on one hell of a show. Always keeping to their roots of blend of punk, blues, country, and rockabilly, their set was an amazing mix of their classics, with old favorites like Ball and Chain and Sick Boys, closing with Johnny Cash’s Ring of Fire. Ness has an amazing stage presence and sounded better than ever. Social Distortion blew the roof off the Vic Theater. I plan on attending all of their future shows in Chicago.

ROLLING STONE PREMIERES NEW VIDEO

Mon 07/30/12

Sd_gimme_premiere_home_page

Rolling Stone has Social Distortion’s newest video, “Gimme the Sweet and Lowdown.” Watch it here.

Working with Olya & Vira Ishchuk (known as “The Mad Twins”) was a great experience," says Mike Ness. "Olya & Vira created this animated piece on their own time as a gift to us, and they nailed it – we didn’t change a thing. Being able to capture the true essence of the song without our input shows The Mad Twins’ artistry, and how talented they truly are. When I was writing “Gimme the Sweet and Lowdown,” the idea behind it was a lifestyle gone wrong due to making really bad life decisions. I never intended for it to be autobiographical, but now with this visual, I realize that it actually is more about me than it seemed when I wrote it.
